Comments:
Great job at states with the 4x800; if I remembered right then that would've
beaten our 4x800's time last year by a second. It would've been awesome if
you guys would've beaten Washington; their (assistant?)coach had her hopes up
that they would win states in that event and was telling me about it at Mars
Invite, I was almost sick of hearing her babble about it.
I think both our teams are not going to be the same next year; both lost a
lot of runners, ours is probably the worst one out of the two, though. We've
gotten lots of new recruits (enough to field a JV squad too, I'm
impressed)but most of that portion of the team hasn't ran since their middle
school years... if at all. It'll probably be another year from now if we're
going to get anywhere near what we did last year. Good luck to your XC team
next year, I'm sure that they'll have the WPIAL title again; and to you
graduating seniors, you guys were awesome runners and maybe in two years I
can be (nearly)as fast as you guys.

I think that you should keep your mouths shut until next year. After all we did beat St. Pius X earlier, when all our runners ran well. Unfortunately members didn't run well at states-like myself, I blame myself for my team's not winning states. I believe any other day and we would have not only won states, but dominated. We shall see next year.

I've neglected writing to this service, and for that I'm sorry. So i'll return to the SSA Track scene with a few comments, updates, and quotes. First, congratulations on yet another great XC season this year. You all performed well, as I researched your scores from down here in the Piedmont. Good Luck with Track now that it is in full swing. I'll be watching you from the 'burgh once finals are over. Secondly this is an awesome site, and I'm glad someone finally got around to making an XC site for SSA. As for myself, alas the first season of indoor track is over and the outdoor season is passing quickly also. Wake finished 3rd in the ACC behind Clemson and UNC. Finally to quote some themes for encouragement. "if the pain talks to ya, Don't listen" This from our Oh so Wise track coach here!
Good Luck

someone (cheever or something like that) signed the guestbook at my page and that's how i got this page. i like the pictures someone's mom took from the invitational. our team in nc is pretty good. well the season is over and we only finished 10th in the state but our #4 was sick and our #2 (me) was out with a broken foot. our top five have p.r.s of 16:06, 16:16, 16:41, 16:54, and 17:03 on a 5K course if that gives you an idea of the qulity of our team. we only had 12 guys this season but it was a pretty good team. once again, this was a nice page. i made the nn cc page so i know how much work it takes.

Mr. Cheever,

I just wanted to let you know that I looked at the SSA XC site tonight and it
is terrific. you can tell that you've put a lot of work into it. Great job!

I also wanted to let you know that there was a major error in the AA boys race
at the state meet and that results which were initially published (which you
have on your site) are incorrect. Revised results have been sent out to the
coaches. So, you can check with your coach for revised results.

Again...Great Job! Thanks for your support of Cross Country.

Whoa. Great to see that the exploits of the Macpack are now available for all
to see. SSA XC (6th thru 12th grade) experiences were on the whole my most
memorable times at Shady Side. I was never really that fast (if I remember
correctly, 19:46 was my PR on the home course), following in the footsteps of
my brother Michael (Class of '76) who wasn't really that great either!

But the runs, our friendships on the team, etc were tremendous - sure beats
running in the pancake-flat Midwest.

Each time I head back to Pittsburgh for the holidays, I make it a point to get
out and run the course again - tho since y'all have chopped down that line of
trees adjacent to the lacrosse field, I never can figure out where to make
that turn to head down to the 2 mi mark!

Big shout out to Mac, who was an excellent coach and a great advisor re high
school romance! Try to get some of that ancient Macpack history on-line - the
mid 80s featured the triumvirate of Gerrard, Lave and Gerlach - I believe the
mid 70s showcased David Olds (who still holds the course record?) and Bucky
Buchanan - old friends of my brother's.

Happy Holidays!

I've written a ton of entries on this guestbook this season, but soon there will be little to write about (I'll probably still write some junk anyways.) This season was another huge success for the little prep school from District 7. It may not seem as though States were a victory, but ultimately they were. Most of the varsity runners all set new PRs. I can't see a better way to end a year or a career than with a PR. It just says something.
Also, traditions were upheld. We have passed on a dynasty to these new freshmen and it promising results are yet to come. To everyone returning next year the most important traditions are the ones you start. It is essential to have a blend of new and old.
This year was also a success on the personal levels as well. Bell you have really turned into an all-star. Charlie the year was filled with nothing but positives as the seconds fell off of your time. Each frosh has earned his points. André, well you know what your accomplishments were, even if there was no reciprocation.
This team was is and always will be like a family to me. I hope this attitude remains strong on the team and that everyone who ever runs feels the same closeness which I have (no matter who they are).
I still don't know what SUDA is. I do know that SUDA has come to stand for the spirit of this team for me personally. But may he/she/it be with the team, always.

SUDA brothers,
If you're reading this, then I'm sure you've already looked at the Grove City times. Don't be surprised. We know that winning states is a hard thing to do. That's why we want it so bad. And one thing that I know it almost better than anyone: last year's results can't win anything this year. I say ignore the times. They're only a distraction to what we should be doing; we need to be preparing to be the best team that we can possibly be by Saturday. We have one week. The hardest part won't be practice. I want everyone to get at least 60 hours of sleep in the next 7 days. Manage your time and get your homework done early. I also want everyone to eat immediately after running. This is the time when your body can absorb the most protein, carbos, etc. And eat well. No carbonated drinks. Period. Lastly, I want everyone to talk with Scooter as soon as possible and ask him what you peronally need to do to be in top condition at States. Although I think that Mac is probably the best team coach around, Scooter is very good with one on one. Listen to what he says. I'm serious, guys...

One week.
Let's do it.

Juniors, this is your last chance; even though I know you guys will

How can you rank Shady Side ahead of Hempfield when we beat you at Northern and Central? The only reason that you were close to us at Central was because we ran our #2 and #6 runners in the freshman race. They went 1-2 in that race. I agree that you have a very strong team this year and I wish you luck at wpials and states, but ranking yourself ahead of a team that you have never beaten is going a little overboard.

Note: The rankings now show Hempfield ahead of Shady Side

Today was homecoming and we dominated Sewickly, they were scared of us.
This year was a very successful year for our paint, not to mention I just returned from a little parrty and all of the Field Hockey players were impressed with are painting. I was impressed with their tolerance, not of the painting that is. They offered to bake and at least ten people, all of well respected names commended our work. Little do they know the count is up at least another five. I think it is time to pool our resources for an official count.

Wish you guys were at the post homecoming gathering, you would wish too.

What's up, Suda fans?? I'm at home, a couple days before Northern Invite, and I just finished writing SUDA across my knuckles - you should try it. I'll make it to Varsity somehow, I'll do it. I'M PSYCHED! We're taking states this year, oh yes we are.

My computer seemed to find this page automatically,
like Suda wanted me to see it.

Congrats on a strong season so far. I'm hoping to
catch one of your meets before you officially become
State Champions and the success goes straight to
your heads.

May Suda be with you.

I am a graduated runner from Wyomissing's CC team of last year. We were the

To whom it may concern:
I was writing to say that I was thoroughly impressed with the
work done on the SSA CC Web Page. I never thought Suda would find its
own resting place on the internet, but I'm glad it has. If you would,
I would love to be entered in the guestbook:
